Request Books

Get Items from Other Libraries

Kapiʻolani CC Library does not currently offer Interlibrary Loan (ILL) but we do offer IntraSystem Loan (ISL) which enables students, faculty, and staff to request books or journal articles from other libraries in the UH system.

Books and journal articles at any UH System Library are available through ISL free of charge. Audiovisual materials (CDs, DVDs, videos, cassettes) at the Wong AV Center at Hamilton Library are also available through ISL at no charge. Follow the steps below. See the Wong AV Center website for additional information.

Request Books & Audiovisual Materials

  1. Navigate to Kapiʻolani CC Library Search.
  2. Sign in to your account on the upper-right corner.
  3. Search for the book or DVD.
  4. Select and view the record.
  5. Under the How to Get It section, click Get this title.
  6. Choose your pickup institution and the preferred pickup location will auto-fill to match your selection.
  7. Click Send Request.

For book requests, if the book is not checked out, it should be available at the library you chose as your pickup location, between 24 hours to 1 week after you submit the request. You will be notified by email when it is available for pickup, using the email address we have on file in your library account. You will have 10 days to pick up the book before your request is automatically cancelled. You can see your pending and available requests on the Requests tab in your library account.

For audiovisual items from the Wong AV Center there is a 5-item limit. You will have 3 days to pick up requests once you are notified by email that they are available; items may be borrowed for 7 days with one renewal.

Fines for late, lost, or damaged books will be charged to your library account. To avoid fines, return all books by the date stamped in the book or request a renewal.
