4) Have a Backup - back up your documents
-- USB Drives, Thumb Drives, Flash Drives etc.
-- Use Laulima (help) to backup your documents in My Workspace under Resources
-- Backup email via gmail or other free services. Auto forward everything.
-- Google Drive connected to your school email is another option.


12) Sending Readable Documents:

Laulima has several ways to submit assignments.

Each class may do things differently.

Timing maybe a factor where submittal times/deadlines may varry

Using Microsoft Word/Office
-- Extension differences for MS Word 2007/08 from earlier versions

MS Word 2007/08/10/11/13/16 extensions is .docx
Older version* extension is .doc

Office 365 (rolled out June 28, 2011).

Save Document as the following (Save As)

Rich Text Format = .rtf
Text format = .txt

Make sure you have a legal copy of your program - Trial copies will not function after the termination date.

LibreOffice (FREE): is the power-packed free, libre and open source personal productivity suite for Windows, Macintosh and GNU/Linux, that gives you six feature-rich applications for all your document production and data processing needs: Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math and Base. Updated 12/12/2019

Make sure you don't save it as an LibreOffice Document.

13) Be Accurate

Use your address book function as much as possible.

Don't forget to cc /email yourself - don't rely only on Auto Save.
-- serves as a double check that the message was sent correctly.
-- You have a time stamp that you did sent in the assignment.

14) Don't Flame:
-- Try not to type ALL IN CAPS, this to some people denotes shouting
-- Stay away from typing in RED - some people may take offense.
-- Save the email as a draft then look at it at a later time
