- About UNWTO-Why Tourism?
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is the United Nations agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.
- 2011 Annual Report to the Hawai‘i State Legislature
Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) is the lead state agency for tourism. Among its responsibilities, the HTA’s is charged with: (1) Setting tourism policy and direction with the goal of contributing to the ongoing, sustainable growth of Hawaii’s economy (2) Developing and implementing the State’s tourism marketing plan and efforts (3) Managing programs and activities to sustain a healthy visitor industry (4) Developing and implementing the Hawaii Tourism Strategic Plan (5) Coordinating tourism-related research, planning, promotional and outreach activities with the public and private sectors.
- Hawai'i Tourism Strategic Plan: 2005-2015
This plan (Hawaii TSP), was developed with assistance and input from the visitor industry, community and other government agencies to create a shared vision for Hawaii tourism in the year 2015. It is a road map of strategic directions, goals and offers responsible and supporting partners for achieving that vision.
- Community-Based Host-Visitor Program
To aid that stewardship, and Hawaii’s healing and renewal, a hui of cultural practitioners formed Pasifika Foundation Hawaii (PFH) to create a pu’uhonua, a holding environment, in which all of the voices expressing Hawaii’s mana and mana’o about its future could be heard, and to find ways in which their wisdom could be applied.
