Searching for Articles

What do you need?

To find research journal articles on a topic, use a library database.
To find an article for which you already have the reference, check the library's Journals, or check Google Scholar (go to Settings, click on Library Links, add Kapiʻolani Community College Library.)

ScienceDirect is the world's largest electronic collection of information in science (including social sciences, arts and humanities), technology, and medicine. It includes over 6 million articles and over 60 million abstracts in over 1,800 scholarly journals. The University of Hawaii System Libraries have purchased full text access to hundreds of journals in ScienceDirect: look for green Subscribed content icons.

Use Advanced Search to limit to Kapiʻolani CC subscribed publications by typing in search terms, clicking submit, and then further refining your search by selecting options under Refine by: "Subscribed journals," in addition to Access type: "Open access" and "Open archive." Use the date limits if needed.

Lama Library has access to thousands of JSTOR Ebooks, in addition to articles which are part of the following collections: Arts & Sciences I-XV, Life Sciences, and Lives of Literature. These collections provide full-text journal backfiles in various disciplines. If the links are not displaying you can manually set the links to Kapiʻolani CC subscriptions, by: 1) Clicking the menu icon in the upper left corner of the Google Scholar search page. 2) Go to Settings. 3) Click on Library links and search for Kapʻiolani. 4) Select Kapiʻolani Community College library - Full Text @ Kapiʻolani CC and save your preferences.
